SOCCER MOMS FROM HELL THROUGH MAY 12

The Theatre Studio Inc. (TSI) will extend its run of Soccer Moms from Hell through May 12, 2007 with a limited performance schedule.

Soccer Moms from Hell is a breakthrough event that challenges the Clinton-Bush era vanilla culture, exposing the self-serving super-rich suburbanites in a manner worthy of Genet or Ionesco.

Written by Richard Cummings (author of Play On Words, Or the War Will Be Over Soon) and directed by TSI’s founder and Artistic Director, A.M. Raychel, Soccer Moms from Hell is a clever satire and one of this season’s must-see theatrical events.

Thursday and Saturday at 8:00pm
Tickets will be available through Theatermania soon

JUNG AMONG THE WOMEN

JUNG AMONG THE WOMEN, a three-act play written by Edward A. Nagel and directed by Alan Arthur, will be produced on Wed. Feb 28, and Thurs. March 1, by TSI / PlayTime. at their new space at 123 East 24th, New York City.

This play is an AMADEUS-like historical mystery about the collaboration of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung with the contributions, real and fictional, of the women in their lives: for Freud, his sister-in-law Minna Bernays; and for Jung, Sabina Spielrein, Antonia Wolff and Emma Jung.

The author and director will be present at both performances to discuss with the audience how the play was written and produced, and to answer any questions they may have on this intriguing story about the two giants of early psychiatric thought.

For advance tickets, call TheaterMania at (212)352-3101.

How To Use This Blog

What is TSI/PlayTime?

FROM: RICHARD CUMMINGS, PLAYWRIGHT

TSI/Playtime Series is unique in New York theatre. It is the only vehicle for new playwrights to have their work produced in a low budget but excellently presented vehicle for discriminating audiences. Not unlike the late, lamented Playwrights Unit of Edward Albee and Robert Moss, TSI/Playtime Series is designed for the playwright, so his/her work can be explored at an early stage of development so it can be revised for future, more elaborate productions.

A TSI/Playtime Series production enables the playwright to participate fully with the actors as well as the staff of Theatre-Studio Inc, in a learning experience that is unmatched anywhere in New York. It is a laboratory of cutting edge theatre, without which the entire theatre scene in New York would be greatly diminished. Were TSI to gain a permanent home, its invaluable work could expand in exciting ways at a time in the city's history when it needs to revitalize theatre beyond the blockbuster Broadway musicals that are aimed primarily at tourists. Without an avant-garde, New York will cease to be New York and will lose out to Chicago and Philadelphia as the leaders of new theatre that inspires and challenges. TSI is the avant-garde; it is without equal in New York. Because of this, it will be able to generate financial support in New York from dedicated persons who want to keep New York as the capital of new theatre in America.

~Richard Cummings, Playwright, author of "Soccer Moms From Hell."
